United Way and Red Cross Blood Drive

PARIS, Texas -- The United Way of Lamar County (UWLC) is partnering with the American Red Cross to host a BLOOD DRIVE Thursday, June 15 10am-4pm at CF Paris, 3410 N. Main Street.
 
Every two seconds someone in the U.S. needs blood. It is essential for surgeries, cancer treatment, chronic illnesses, and traumatic injuries. Whether a patient receives whole blood, red cells, platelets or plasma, this lifesaving care starts with one person making a generous donation.
 
UWLC Executive Director Jenny Wilson explains, “Blood donations are still one of the most important and easiest things you can do to help others in need. And there are health benefits to the donor as well!”
 
According to Health and Human Services (HHS) donating is a generous thing to do. It helps people in need, and it helps people in your community. When you give, others live.  Donors, especially those who donate regularly, keep our nation’s blood supply stable. Although many people donate blood after disasters, blood is needed every day of the year.  Donating is simple, fast, and convenient. The donation process can take as little as 45 minutes of your time, but can make a lifelong difference for someone else.
